Minerva Church Hotel

The hotel is ideally located: just one street behind the lake, right next to St Joseph Church, but in a quiet street (no noise at night – which seems unthinkable for a city as Hanoi, as bustling during the day). At the foot of the hotel, there are lovely cafes and restaurants, small shops. The area is perfect for staying right in the center of everything, but in peace and quiet. Everything can be done on foot from here. The hotel itself is very beautiful, well-maintained, and the staff at the reception (especially LISA who was so helpful, very professional, full of great advices and so sweet, and the doorman KEVIN who was absolutely charming) are very kind, helpful, and attentive. We arrived at the hotel at 10:30 am and although check-in is at 2:00 pm, the staff made sure we could access our room at 11:30 am already. We booked the St Joseph double room (on the 4th floor), and although the view of St Joseph Church is very limited, the tall green trees on the street rise right up to the large windows of the room, and it’s really very beautiful. In Hanoi, due to the very typical architecture of the narrow buildings, many hotels offer rooms without windows or overlooking an inner courtyard, but the Minerva Church Hotel offers large, beautiful windows! At night, there is no noise coming from the little street or even from the other rooms. The room and the bathroom with a bathtub are more than spacious and well-designed. The bedding is very comfortable. Tea, coffee, and bottled water are available for free, as well as a plate of fruit upon arrival. Very good buffet breakfast with a choice of everything ! We can only recommend this hotel from all points of view !

We just spent ten days in Hanoi, staying at the Minerva Church Hotel. The property is stunning, and is perfectly located within the Old Quarter but without the road noise. The breakfasts include fresh, cooked, and baked goods, as well as a menu if you want to order something else. It's the staff here are what make the experience. Thomas, Sunny, and Lisa are the first point of contact and they are exceptional. Not only did they answer all our questions, they arranged for our laundry to be done at a great price and with a same day turnaround. When we wanted to do a day trip to Ninh Binh they organised the itinerary to see what we wanted, a driver, and a car. The price was astonishingly cheap, and the experience was perfect. Khai the doorman is brilliant. Not only does he open the doors when we are with line of sight of the hotel, he moves our luggage, delivers our clean laundry, and does all the maintenance work as needed. The housekeeping staff are fantastic, cleaning rooms, making beds, and changing towels every day. After ten days we feel like we are leaving family behind, and we are genuinely sad to say goodbye. If you want Hanoi to feel like home, Minerva is the place to stay.

The staff (Lisa, Sunny, Thomas and Khai as well as everyone else) are lovely - always helpful, friendly and attentive. The hotel is in walking distance of everything, including the lake. It is perfectly comfortable, clean and well-appointed with a lovely boutique decor. My room had a fantastic view of the street through large windows but was super quiet. It also had a great bath tub. Breakfast was great, with lots of options and the hot-stone massage at the spa was really excellent, the best I had in Vietnam - thank you. Minerva Church Hotel is a lovely, comfortable, quiet place to stay in the busy and fascinating city of Hanoi and I will recommend to anyone I know travelling to Hanoi, thanks again.

The room was as pretty as the photos shown. It was spacious and comfortable, the bedroom was separated with the living room. The bathroom was spacious too. The room is located at the top floor (8/F) of the building. Elevator can only reach 7/F. Guests have to walk up and down one floor, but on the way can go to the balcony for the city lookout, looking at the beautiful Cathedral, very nice. The staff were so good to move up our luggage to our room. Plenty of sunshine in the whole room. The TV in the bedroom was bigger than many other hotel. There was another TV in the living room. Air-conditioners worked well. Lightings were sufficient in every corner of the room. A small balcony was attached in the living room, as it’s very hot during the period we visited. We seldom use it. May be it is nice to sit there during winter season. The Catholic Cathedral St Joseph is nearby, it’s peaceful to hear the bell rings. A very beautiful church, must visit. All staff are excellent, very caring and good manners. The Indian café at the G/F serves daily breakfast, besides the choices on the bench, guests were invited to pick a main course from the menu. I like their Vietnam Chicken Poh offered. 30% off for hotel guests to use their massage services. But you better make booking in advance to avoid waiting for the therapist. There has a small convenient store near the Cathedral (i.e. LHS of the hotel), there has a bigger convenient store just turn the corner of the street (i.e. RHS of the hotel), guests can find varieties of fresh fruits there. The hotel provides laundry services at a reasonable cost, bring to the front desk in the morning before going out, then the staff will send to your room in the evening.

Very central, quiet, beautiful boutique hotel. Staff is warm and very helpful. Room was quiet, clean, fresh and I had a perfect rest. Toilet is clean and water pressure is ok with constant temperature. No pipes smell in the bathroom, which could happen in other structures in the historic center. Breakfast was good, with various choices. There is an elevator to reach the upper floors. The hotel is inside an old building, well decorated. Room size is compact as any structure in the city center. There’s also a SPA with massage inside the hotel, laundry service, and private airport transfer at very competitive price (better than grab!) I would definitely recommend this hotel as your Hanoi exploration base, because of the incredibly good location, overall look and feel, quiet rooms, and good rest. I liked Hanoi so much, and my hotel was just exactly what I was looking for, that I extended one more night.
