My wife and I took the Sleeper Train from Sapa to Hanoi Railway Station. We reached Minerva Church Hotel early in the morning around 6.30 a.m. on March 4, 2025. On hand to assist us to register was one Mr. Alex at the reception. We later found out that he works the "graveyard shift" but yet he still looks so fresh, presentable, cheerful helpful n friendly even towards the end of his shift. As it was too early to check-in he led us to the waiting area to rest and at the same time served us complimentary cups of coffee. That was very considerate of him and a very nice gesture. We were also given access to the washroom to brush our teeth and freshen up. After his shift ended, Ms. Lisa and Mr. Thomas Bui assisted with the check-in and they managed to have a room ready for us before 12.00 p.m. The room is very spacious, very clean and with a very comfortable bed and windows overlooking the main street providing a good view of the area and the busy pedestrian / vehicular activities on the street. Apart from the usual toiletries, comb razor, etc., kettle, 3-in-1 coffee and tea bags, the room is also equipped with an ironing board and iron which is a plus. Many hotels nowadays provide for it on request. The buffet cum a la carte breakfast is very delicious with a good variety of western n local fare and fruits, juices, yoghurt. There is another female staff at the reception wearing glasses who is very helpful, friendly and approachable. Didn't get her name though but she is also part of the fantastic team that made our stay at Minerva Church Hotel very enjoyable and memorable. Location of the hotel is fantastic. When you come out ftom the hotel and turn left, it's less than a minute's walk to St. Joseph Cathedral, 6 - 8 minutes walk to Hoan Kien Lake. There are plentiful of eateries, cafes, spas, pubs, convenience stores right in front and within a 3 minutes walk from the hotel.

The room was as pretty as the photos shown. It was spacious and comfortable, the bedroom was separated with the living room. The bathroom was spacious too. The room is located at the top floor (8/F) of the building. Elevator can only reach 7/F. Guests have to walk up and down one floor, but on the way can go to the balcony for the city lookout, looking at the beautiful Cathedral, very nice. The staff were so good to move up our luggage to our room. Plenty of sunshine in the whole room. The TV in the bedroom was bigger than many other hotel. There was another TV in the living room. Air-conditioners worked well. Lightings were sufficient in every corner of the room. A small balcony was attached in the living room, as it’s very hot during the period we visited. We seldom use it. May be it is nice to sit there during winter season. The Catholic Cathedral St Joseph is nearby, it’s peaceful to hear the bell rings. A very beautiful church, must visit. All staff are excellent, very caring and good manners. The Indian café at the G/F serves daily breakfast, besides the choices on the bench, guests were invited to pick a main course from the menu. I like their Vietnam Chicken Poh offered. 30% off for hotel guests to use their massage services. But you better make booking in advance to avoid waiting for the therapist. There has a small convenient store near the Cathedral (i.e. LHS of the hotel), there has a bigger convenient store just turn the corner of the street (i.e. RHS of the hotel), guests can find varieties of fresh fruits there. The hotel provides laundry services at a reasonable cost, bring to the front desk in the morning before going out, then the staff will send to your room in the evening.

The hotel is ideally located: just one street behind the lake, right next to St Joseph Church, but in a quiet street (no noise at night – which seems unthinkable for a city as Hanoi, as bustling during the day). At the foot of the hotel, there are lovely cafes and restaurants, small shops. The area is perfect for staying right in the center of everything, but in peace and quiet. Everything can be done on foot from here. The hotel itself is very beautiful, well-maintained, and the staff at the reception (especially LISA who was so helpful, very professional, full of great advices and so sweet, and the doorman KEVIN who was absolutely charming) are very kind, helpful, and attentive. We arrived at the hotel at 10:30 am and although check-in is at 2:00 pm, the staff made sure we could access our room at 11:30 am already. We booked the St Joseph double room (on the 4th floor), and although the view of St Joseph Church is very limited, the tall green trees on the street rise right up to the large windows of the room, and it’s really very beautiful. In Hanoi, due to the very typical architecture of the narrow buildings, many hotels offer rooms without windows or overlooking an inner courtyard, but the Minerva Church Hotel offers large, beautiful windows! At night, there is no noise coming from the little street or even from the other rooms. The room and the bathroom with a bathtub are more than spacious and well-designed. The bedding is very comfortable. Tea, coffee, and bottled water are available for free, as well as a plate of fruit upon arrival. Very good buffet breakfast with a choice of everything ! We can only recommend this hotel from all points of view !

"A Truly Exceptional Stay!" From the moment we arrived at Minerva Hotel, it was clear that this was going to be a memorable experience. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff greeted us with a warm welcome, making us feel instantly at home. The room was nothing short of spectacular. It was spacious, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom felt like a mini spa with high-end amenities and a rain shower. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a welcome gift. The hotel's location couldn't have been better—just steps away from top attractions, yet tucked in a quiet area so we could enjoy some peace and relaxation when we returned. The on-site dining options were top-notch, with delicious food and excellent service. We especially loved the breakfast buffet, which had a wide variety of options, from fresh fruit to made-to-order dishes. What really stood out was the exceptional service throughout our stay. Every staff member, shout out to RORY, LISA, SUNNY and THOMAS, from the concierge to the housekeeping team, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. They were always friendly, attentive, and eager to assist with any request, making us feel truly valued. In short, Minerva Hotel exceeded all of our expectations. Whether you're visiting for business or leisure, this hotel offers a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and exceptional service. We can’t wait to return!
